My 30th Birthday

Birthdays have always been a really big deal in our family and especially big milestone birthdays. I just love birthdays, I love how it's your one special day a year to celebrate YOU! 😄 So yesterday was my 30th birthday. It was a big deal bc I wasn't thrilled with the idea of turning 30. But I decided it beat the alternative. So on with the celebrations I went! Saturday we celebrated Fathers Day/ My birthday at Lake Lure with the whole Harris family. We had a lot of fun in the pool, relaxing on the beach, out on the boat, and finished the day grilling out on the beach. It was a fun celebration. 

Sunday we went to Bogart's in Waynesville with Casey's parents, and that was a lot of fun and some great food! 

Monday I took advantage of every free birthday treat I could. I started the day at Krispy Kreme getting a free donut and iced coffee. Then I went to Jersey Mikes for a free lunch.

I had to work but it was ok because I love my job and I love the people I work with. They gave me a sweet card and gift card at staff meeting. Then I went to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge with mom and we got some delicious salted caramel ice cream, chocolate cake, and a free truffle for my birthday. Then we went to Tops shoe store and mom bought me 2 pair of Toms that I have always wanted. 

Casey had said that I could pick wherever I wanted to go to dinner for my birthday. I still hadn't decided and I got a text that said "See you at 5:30 birthday girl. Don't be late. I love you!!" So I went home and when I got there his car was already there. That was odd bc he had left at 6:30 that morning to go to work and to take the kids to his moms house. He normally doesn't get home until at least 5:45 bc he picks the kids up after he gets off work. So, I got out and walked up to the door and noticed the grill on. I went in and he had a huge spread of food out- Steak kabobs with squash, onion, mushrooms, chips and guacamole, snacks, my favorite wine- Cupcake Moscato, and a huge 3 layer triple chocolate cake with homemade chocolate cream cheese icing with 30 candles. He then told me that our friends Jenna and Sean and their kids were on their way over. I was so excited and completely surprised. He had taken the whole day off work to do all this for me. But in order to throw me off, he got the kids up and left just like always at 6:30 and went to his moms house until he knew I was gone. Then he came back home, cleaned the house, and made all the food. What an amazing husband! I am the hardest person in the world to surprise, but he did it!!! We had a fun night together hanging out and playing games. 

30 doesn't seem so bad after all! 😉
